Poetry of Line and Color

The poetry of line and color - the beauty of nature in timeless landscapes or fleeting glimpses that last but a moment.  My artwork is an attempt to capture this granduer, this mood.  I can only hope to entice the viewer as I have been enticed by the beauty that surrounds us.

My current passion is printmaking.  The physical process of carving a wood block or artist linoleum connects me deeply with the image. Inking and proofing, blending the colors, and perfecting the compostion are challenging aspects that fullfill my creative desires.

Many of my prints start as pencil drawings and sketches.  There is power in the simple graphic nature of one-color (usually black) prints.  Color adds dimenson and complexity to the print.  I use gouache watercolor to aid in the development of color proofs.

The innovative style and color of Henri Mattise and the craftsmanship of Gustave Baumann have had heavy influences on my development as an artist.  I wish to thank Rik Olson and Kevin Fletcher as mentors and friends.
